Mercer Botanic Gardens
Join Mercer staff for plant grooming, pruning and weeding in the the Perennial Garden. Seek out what is blooming and participate in plant identification to assist visitors. Learn about Texas native plants and endangered species in the Conservation Garden. Dress for the weather with tennis shoes or boots, gloves, and a hat. Sunscreen and water are recommended.
Bring a partner or attend alone and try your hand at a variety of card games or dominoes.

Join Horticultural Coordinator Matt Abernathy Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. for native plant landscaping and habitat restoration in the park. Volunteers assist with gardening outside the Nature Center, tending plants in the greenhouse, removing invasive plants, assisting with habitat restoration, and other horticulture projects. Volunteer Doug Ebeling also offers vegetable gardening at 10 a.m. in the heritage garden at the pioneer homestead. Closed-toed shoes, gloves, a hat, sunscreen, and water are recommended.
