Enjoy a fun-filled day of educational, family friendly activities in one of Harris County’s most beautiful parks! Visit recreated confederate and union camps to learn about Civil War era lifestyles. Also take guided tours to discover the history of the recently discovered Spring Creek Park Cemetery. The festival will feature Civil War battle re-enactments, cultural demonstrations, food trucks, archaeology digs, and more! This is a FREE event.

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center

Nestled within 252 acres in Orange, Texas, Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is a tranquil sanctuary with more than 300 varieties of plants and a diverse wildlife population. Following a short stroll through the gardens, we will board a pontoon boat for a ride along Adams Bayou. Prior to the tour, enjoy lunch on your own at Luigi’s Italian Grill. Volunteer instructor Juana Hernandez combines Latin and International music with a fun, calorie-torching, strength-training, and effective dance workout that is great for the body and mind. Aerobic attire is recommended. The class is limited to participants ages 13 and older. All participants under the age of 18 must present their Student I.D. or other proof of age. A donation is suggested, but never required.
