Join us for a fun-filled Shakespearean afternoon at one of Harris County’s most beautiful recreational areas! During the performances on Saturday, enjoy a variety of refreshments available for purchase from one of the food trucks present at the festival! Join family and friends for this FREE event with entertainment and live music, children’s crafts, face painting, games, and live Shakespeare performances.

Join Horticultural Coordinator Matt Abernathy Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. for native plant landscaping and habitat restoration in the park. Volunteers assist with gardening outside the Nature Center, tending plants in the greenhouse, removing invasive plants, assisting with habitat restoration, and other horticulture projects. Volunteer Doug Ebeling also offers vegetable gardening at 10 a.m. in the heritage garden at the pioneer homestead. Closed-toed shoes, gloves, a hat, sunscreen, and water are recommended.

Join certified instructor Tricia Thibodeaux as she leads T’ai Chi, a moderate stretching and toning exercise. Originating in China as a martial art, T’ai Chi means the “supreme ultimate fist.” T’ai Chi encourages awareness and natural relaxation while improving balance, coordination, flexibility and centering.

Volunteer instructor Juana Hernandez combines Latin and International music with a fun, calorie-torching, strength-training, and effective dance workout that is great for the body and mind. Aerobic attire is recommended. The class is limited to participants ages 13 and older. All participants under the age of 18 must present their Student I.D. or other proof of age.

Volunteer instructor Stephanie Clark leads this exercise class that promotes physical awareness and mental discipline while building symmetry and coordination in the body. Most people who practice Pilates experience improved range of motion, flexibility, circulation, posture, and abdominal strength as well as decreases in back, neck, and joint pain. Comfortable exercise clothing and a thick yoga mat are required for maximum comfort.
