Precinct 4 Senior Adult Program’s May Calendar Bookmark

Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program provides senior adult trips and activities for everyone 50 years of age and better. Register online at www.hcp4.net/sap/events or call 281-893-3726. Checks are payable to Fun4Seniors and should be mailed to 1731 Hugh Road, Houston, Texas 77067.
Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or physical ability. 

Senior Adult Trips

Celtic Women at the Smart Financial Center at Sugar Land.  Saturday, May 5 at 3:30 p.m. All-female Irish musical ensemble, Celtic Woman, celebrates Ireland's rich musical and cultural heritage, while continuing its remarkable legacy of introducing some of Ireland's most talented singers and musicians onto the world stage. Dinner is available for purchase on your own at Sweet Tomatoes before the performance. A $30 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Tomball Regional Medical Center, located at 605 Holderrieth Boulevard, Tomball. (Park in lot E off of Medical Complex Drive).

Baytown Wetlands Center and Historical Museum.  Tuesday, May 8 at 9 a.m. The Baytown Historical Museum provides a look into Baytown’s past. Baytown, perhaps the most industrialized city in the state, is home to dozens of petrochemical plants and oil refineries. At the Baytown Wetlands Center, learn to understand and appreciate the wetlands, the environment, and the animals that live there. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at El Toro Mexican Restaurant. A $3 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from the Oaks Presbyterian Church, located at 1576 Chantilly Lane, Houston.

Sam Houston Boat Tour. Thursday, May 10 at 8:30 a.m. During this 90-minute boat ride, enjoy views of international cargo vessels and operations at the port of Houston’s Turning Basin Terminal. The vessel features air-conditioned lounge seating and standing room on the boat deck. Backpacks are not allowed on the trip and picture identification is required. Avoid flip flops and sandals, and wear a light jacket. Lunch is available for purchase at Monument Inn Restaurant. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

City of Houston Mounted Patrol Unit Tour and Lucky Land.  Thursday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. The Mounted Patrol Unit offers a guided tour of its equestrian facility and demonstrations of behind-the-scenes activities to prepare the horses for large crowds and events. Horses enjoy apples, large carrots and peppermints. Visitors will have an opportunity to feed the horses. After lunch, visit Lucky Land which encompasses over two acres dedicated to showcasing the deep Asian culture and history. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant. A $7 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Kingwood Community Center, located at 4102 Rustic Woods Drive, Kingwood.

Minute Maid Park Tour. Friday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m. Check out all Minute Maid Park has to offer in this behind-the-scenes tour that includes the broadcasting booth, press box, luxury suite, dug out, bullpen, and more! This event requires extensive walking and standing. Lunch is available for purchase at Cleburne Cafeteria. A $12 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Sugar Land Skeeters Baseball.
Tuesday, May 15 at 9:15 a.m. Join Precinct 4 for a trip to see the Sugar Land Skeeters take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at the stadium. A $7 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Barbara Bush Library, located at 6817 Cypresswood Drive, Spring.

Neches River Adventure. Tuesday, May 15 at 8:30 a.m. Climb aboard The Ivory Bill to learn about the unique ecosystems along the Neches River, including dense bottomland forests of hardwoods and pine trees. The area is home to more than 200 species, 47 mammals, 300 birds and many reptiles and amphibians. Lunch is available for purchase at Floyd’s Cajun Seafood and Texas Steakhouse. A $10 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Tomball Regional Medical Center, located at 605 Holderrieth Boulevard, Tomball. Houston Federal Reserve. Wednesday, May 16 at 9:15 a.m. Learn about the Houston branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Built after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, this 300,000 square-foot building on Allen Parkway provides services to Houston and surrounding areas of south and southeast Texas. Please make sure to bring identification to enter the building. Lunch will be available for purchase at the Monument Inn. Transportation is provided from Humble Civic Center, located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble.

Bee Weaver in Navasota. Thursday, May 17. Bee Weaver offers a unique trip into a bee hive. From the comfort of a shaded observation area, view a beekeeper at work and learn basic beekeeping. The observation area has a screen between you and the hive, and the beekeeper will bring frames of bees to the screen, so you can see the bees and their hive up close. Lunch is available for purchase at Las Fuentes Steak and Grill. A $15 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Galveston Harbor Tour. Thursday, May 17 at 9 a.m. Board the Seagull II for a narrated tour of Galveston Bay and the Port of Houston. Take in the variety of birds and marine life while on the water, possibly including some playful dolphins! Lunch is available for purchase on your own at one of the many local eateries on the Strand. An $8 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Barbara Bush Library, located at 6817 Cypresswood Drive, Spring.

Spring Creek Park Heritage Festival.
Saturday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy a fun-filled day of educational, family friendly activities in one of Harris County’s most beautiful parks! Visit recreated confederate and union camps to learn about Civil War era lifestyles. Lunch is available for purchase at the festival. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Magnolia Festival in Columbus. Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m. Attend the Columbus Magnolia Festival and enjoy live music, food, vendors and a petting zoo located on the courthouse square. Lunch is available for purchase at the festival. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Galveston Railroad Museum. Tuesday, May 22 at 8 a.m. The museum, founded in 1983, is one of the largest restored collections in the country. From the meticulous detail of the recreated mid-20th century train station lobby, to the exhibits featuring a variety of railroading memorabilia, to the mind-blowing exactness of the model train layouts, this museum captures the detailed, amazing history of railroads. Stair climbing is required. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at one of the many local eateries on the Strand. A $8 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Group Volunteer Outreach: Houston Food Bank. Wednesday, May 23 at 10:15 a.m. Help feed Houston’s hungry by volunteering at the Houston Food Bank’s warehouse. Each volunteer is required to wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and no jewelry. Prior to volunteering, lunch will be available for purchase at the Dinner Bell Café and Bakery. Transportation is provided from Kingwood Community Center, located at 4102 Rustic Woods Drive, Kingwood. 

Discover Houston Tours. Wednesday, May 23 at 9:15 a.m. Tour Houston with Certified Professional Tour Guide, Phil Stewart. We will start off on the banks of Buffalo Bayou where Houston began in 1836. From there, we will move on to Old Market Square, Minute Maid Park, River Oaks, Rice University, the Medical Center and NRG Stadium. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at Spaghetti Western Italian Restaurant. A $6 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

Friday, May 25 at 9:30 a.m. Join Precinct 4 on a shopping trip to Brenham, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit more than 40 shops in downtown Brenham. After shopping, head to The Antique Rose Emporium, a nursery specializing in antique roses that are tougher and more resilient than modern roses. Lunch is available for purchase at the restaurant of your choice in Brenham. Transportation is provided from the Oaks Presbyterian Church, located at 1576 Chantilly Lane, Houston.

Sugar Land Skeeters Baseball. Tuesday, May 29 at 5:15 p.m. Join Precinct 4 for a trip to see the Sugar Land Skeeters take on the Long Island Ducks. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at the stadium. A $7 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Humble Civic Center, located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble.

Luncheons and Events

Walking on Sunshine Luncheon. Friday, May 4 at 11:30 a.m. Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program invites all senior adults ages 50 years of age and better to Lone Star College – University Park, Energy & Manufacturing Institute (EMI Building) at 11521 Compaq Center West Drive in Houston for a catered meal and live, musical entertainment! Enjoy a mat-free yoga session from Houston Laughter Yoga and then take a short walk around the campus after lunch. Ben’s Chuck Wagon is catering a salad trio of chicken, pasta, and fruit salad, croissant, dessert and iced tea. $10 per person.

Get “Antsy” For A Picnic. Monday, May 21 at 11:30 a.m. Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program invites all senior adults ages 50 years of age and better to St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church at 2003 West 43rd, Houston for a catered meal and live, musical entertainment! Ben’s Chuck Wagon is catering barbeque chicken, brisket, and sausage, baked beans, potato salad, homemade bread, dessert, and iced tea. $10 per person.

Once Upon an Apron Mother’s Day Tribute. Wednesday, May 9 at 11:30 a.m. Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program invites all senior adults 50 years of age and better to the Humble Civic Center, located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway in Humble, for a tribute to mothers. Cool Freddie E and The Crew will sing your favorite tunes and Ben’s Chuck Wagon is catering chicken, fruit, and pasta salads, croissants, dessert and iced tea. Prizes will be awarded for the oldest, funniest, and sweetest aprons.
