Big Stone Lodge’s October Calendar Bookmark

Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program invites all senior adults 50 years of age or better to an early dinner and performance by Jay Cantu. Ben’s Chuck Wagon will provide baked ziti, roasted vegetables, garden salad, and garlic bread, as well as dessert and unlimited iced tea and coffee.

An $8 per person suggested donation is requested and payable in advance during registration. Come by the Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to get tickets no later than Monday, Oct. 1.

Walking Along the Trails
Friday, Oct. 5 at 8:10 a.m.

Start your Friday morning with a healthy and educational stroll along Precinct 4’s beautiful park trails. Once a month, a guide with Precinct 4’s Trails As Parks (TAP) program lead a gentle two-mile walk along the paved Spring Creek Greenway Trail. The walk will begin and end at Big Stone Lodge.

Quilting, Knitting and Crocheting
Friday, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m.

Volunteer instructors teach the basics of quilting, knitting, and crocheting to participants of all skill levels. New projects and techniques are featured every month.

Painted Churches Tour, Schulenburg
Thursday, Oct. 11 at 8 a.m.

Trip sign-up is on a first-come, first-serve basis at Big Stone Lodge. The cost is $12 per person. Lunch is on your own at the Oakridge Smokehouse Restaurant. Transportation is provided for individuals 50 and better through Harris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program. A Harris County Precinct 4 bus will pick up and drop off participants at Spring Baptist Church, located at 633 E. Louetta Road in Spring.

Trip Sign Up
Tuesday, Oct. 16 at noon

Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis. Transportation is provided for individuals 50 and better through Harris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program. A Harris County Precinct 4 bus will pick up and drop off participants at Spring Baptist Church, located at 633 E. Louetta Road in Spring, for the following November trip:

  • Friday, Nov. 9 at 8 a.m. – Peeka Ranch Alpacas, Burton. The cost is $2 per person. Lunch is on your own at K-Bob’s Steakhouse.

Know Your Device: Smartphones
Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.

Participants are invited to bring their smartphones for a hands-on tutorial. Michelle Richardson with Harris County Technology Services will demonstrate how to take and share pictures, send text messages, and use apps.

Texas Snakes
Thursday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.

Join Monte Parks with Precinct 4’s Trails As Parks (TAP) program and get familiar with the local snakes of Texas and learn how they play an essential role in the balance of nature.     

Willkommen Luncheon
Friday, Oct. 19 at 11:30 a.m.

Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program invites all senior adults 50 years of age or better to a fall luncheon. Ben’s Chuck Wagon will serve a satisfying spread of wiener schnitzels, potato salad, red cabbage, green beans, homemade bread, dessert, and unlimited iced tea and coffee.
An $8 per person suggested donation is requested and payable in advance during registration. Come by the Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to get tickets no later than Wednesday, Oct. 17.
