Thank you to everyone who voted in the Nov. 5 election! Because of voters like you, Precinct 4 will benefit from additional funding for flood control and park improvements. Read more below to learn more about these recently approved amendments.
This amendment allocates sales tax revenue collected from the sale of sporting goods to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the Texas Historical Commission, creating a stable funding source. Before the amendment was approved, the state legislature funded the two departments out of the general fund. TPWD works closely with the Precinct 4 parks department, providing grant funds for such projects as Edgewater Park, Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, Trails As Parks, the Spring Creek Greenway, the Cypress Creek Greenway, and Alabonson Park. The additional funding will give TPWD more opportunities to support local park projects across the state.
Proposition 8 creates the Flood Infrastructure Fund to help pay for drainage improvements and flood mitigation projects across Texas. The amendment also improves the state’s ability to access federal funding by providing local matching funds. Money for the fund will come from the state’s “Rainy Day” fund.
