Are signs littering your neighborhood? Or, is someone illegally dumping trash near your home? The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Environmental Crimes Unit may be able to help.
Created in 2017 by Constable Mark Herman, the Precinct 4 Environmental Crimes Unit protects the environment by investigating and prosecuting crimes such as littering, illegal dumping, illegally posted bandit signs, and other environmental crimes.
Business owners who place signs on private or county property without consent could be charged with a misdemeanor and fined. These illegally placed signs, called bandit signs, can be major eyesores for some communities and cost the county money to remove.
Anyone with information regarding illegal dumping, littering, or the illegal placement of bandit signs can contact Precinct 4’s Environmental Response Unit at 281-376-3472 or visithttp://www.constablepct4.com/environmental-crimes-unit.html.
